Becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist requires the following: a minimum of a master’s degree, completion of an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics, completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice experience, and passing a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. The Horizon Specialty Hospitals Dietetic Internship meets the supervised practice experience required to take the Commission on Dietetics Registration’s Registration Examination for Dietitian Nutritionists. The Horizon Specialty Hospitals Dietetic Internship meets the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics’ (ACEND) Accreditation Standards, including core competencies for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

In most states, graduates must also obtain licensure or certification to practice. It is ACEND’s considered opinion that the program is designed to and does meet all state dietetics licensure and certification laws as some states may interpret their statutes differently. Nevada requires licensure.
